Alternative Dispute Resolution: Creating Practical Solutions Outside the Courtroom

I am attorney Zak Kretchmer, founder of Kretchmer Family Law, PLLC, in Minneapolis. As an attorney, I handle a wide range of family law matters and regularly represent clients in alternative dispute resolution processes, including mediation. Most of my work today, however, is as a neutral mediator. I serve as a resource for attorneys and individuals seeking to resolve family law matters in an amicable and straightforward way.

In mediation, parties may choose whether or not to have their own attorneys. In most divorce cases, they do retain counsel and participate in mediation as part of the process.

In addition to my work as a mediator, I also serve as an arbitrator in divorce and family law cases. In arbitration, both parties agree to have their disputes decided by a neutral decision-maker outside of court. I am also available to provide Early Neutral Evaluations (ENE) — both financial and social — and have experience participating in Early Case Management (ECM) processes used by Minnesota courts to help resolve disputed issues early in a case.
